Adam Lang didn’t really want to think about the history of his family. He didn’t want to delve into the rumors about curses, and werewolves, and madness. He barricaded himself inside his huge mansion, and let others run the world for him. Nicolas Ross, on the other hand, couldn’t stop thinking about the history of his family. The Lang's had cursed them, and as a result, he had been born a werewolf. He’d do anything to reverse the curse, including kidnapping the man who ruled the inner city, a plac

This is the tale of Adam and Nicolas. Adam is a ruler(?) of, well, something. I didn't find that part particularly clear. It appears his family has a long history with another family, a curse was involved, and the two families hate each other. Nicolas is the head of that other family. A curse was put on him by Adam's ancestors, and his goal right now is to get rid of that curse. The problem is that his other family members *like* being werewolves. These aren't the werewolves of romance, they lose a lot of their humanity and control when they're under the light of the full moon, and Nicolas abhors that loss of control because he loves and respects life. Which is why he hates Adam... Adam is a rich snob who cares nothing about others and overtaxes his people and rules them on a whim. The action scenes were very nicely done. The erotic encounters were also steamy and well-written. I only have two problems with the story. The first is that it's a VERY complex tale and it's difficult to keep track of the family history, all the ancestors, and all of their actions that lead us to the present. The second thing is that I felt the characters didn't stay in character. Adam is a self-absorbed, uncaring, petulant, immature brat who has no empathy for others. When kidnapped by Nicolas, he is frightened and indignant, until he's not. A few hours later, he's playful, horny, and in love. Nicolas, who has spent his life hating Adam and his family, takes to Adam far too quickly. I felt that there romance should have been stretched out over weeks, days at the least, but it happens quickly. And Adam, as awful as he is, suddenly starts showing empathy a bit too quickly for my own tastes.
Still, it's a fun story with gay love and sex and werewolves. I do recommend it, but with reservation that you keep in mind that character development is rough and the plot is complex and requires attention in order to follow it.
One other thing... the book is the first in a series. As such, it doesn't have a clear, final ending as Adam and Nicolas' saga is only just beginning.

Nicholas Wolf Saga book 1 edition by D J Manly Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Adam Lang lives in a grand mansion and has every decadent want or desire met without question. His family has controlled the city and all the inhabitants for several generations.
Nicholas Ross, or Nico, and his family control the city's underbelly and hate the Lang family with a passion. Nico, his family members, lover Blake, and a few others are werewolves, either from a curse or made by a Ross.
Years before Adam or Nicholas were born, Adam's grandfather Stanton made a pact with a demon and cursed Nicholas' grandfather Anton Ross and his future descendants because of jealousy and love. Nicholas will do whatever it takes to be a human man as he hates being a werewolf. He needs Adam to break the curse and Adam has no intention of getting close to a Ross. An additional problem for Nico is that the other werewolves are happy with their strength and immortality. They will stop at nothing to keep the two men apart or barring that - to commit murder, even of their own leader.
Nicholas is very much a mystery suspense tale with a strong unrequited love story skillfully woven together. Nicholas is a very strong alpha character pitted against a weak yet arrogant Adam whose decisions blow hot or cold depending on the situation he finds himself in. I did have some trouble getting the beginning clear because the story starts off running and never slows down, but I enjoyed the ride to the finish. The end leaves you with unanswered questions, but I can't wait to read what happens next.
Adam Lang and Nicholas Ross have fallen in love, but the bitter feud between their grandfathers, Stanton Lang and Anton Ross, means that their love cannot continue. Circumstances now turn their love into jealousy and hate.
Each thought to be dead, Stanton Lang and Anton Ross have returned to direct the lives of their grandsons without the other knowing that they are both back in the picture. Anton takes Nicholas aside and tells him the history of the two men from the time they met to the present.
Anton Ross despises the snobby rich men of Middletown, but his business-minded father pressures Anton into attending the tony Academic Institute to complete his education and to become room mates with Stanton Lang, the richest of the snobs. The two young men share common ground with overbearing, controlling fathers and grow to love each other while Stanton has secretly found a way to aid his stamina, charisma, and power to be the success his father requires.
Their lives entwine with a secret love for each other and marriages to women -- Nancy Codair for Stanton who shares her with Anton and a cold fish named Melissa Carriage for Anton. But secrets of love, sex, and magic can't stay quiet forever and all hell breaks loose for these two men who should be together and cannot. Anton and Stanton learn the hard way that the line between love and hate is only a breath apart.
The second Wolf Saga book, Stanton and Anton, begins with the last chapter of book one and the true past history between the families unfolds with passion and verve. I was pulled in and found myself wrapped up in their lives of the Lang and Ross men. They are something else! Author DJ Manly pulls out all the stops with Stanton and Anton and left me thirsty for the third installment in this highly provocative and powerful series.
Enlisting the help and muscle of Grigori, a vampire leader, some of his vampires, and another werewolf pack, Anton Ross has returned home to aid his grandson Nicholas in his fight against the Lang family.
At one time Grigori and Anton were lovers, but now each considers the other a good friend. Along with his men, Grigori has brought a prisoner named Wade who is a Damphir, born of a human mother and a vampire sire. Wade has been raised by vampire hunters and despises Grigori, but for some reason, the two men are unable to kill the other even though there have been many chances.
The lines have been drawn in this feud between the Ross werewolves and the Lang men, and now vampires and another pack are involved in this fight for the people of Middletown. The secrets these men hold are starting to choke them. This battle cannot continue forever and now it is time for choices to be fulfilled that will last a lifetime or mean certain death.
The grand finale of the Wolf Sagas brings all the hot and dominant characters together with Grigori In Blood in a blazing climax. I truly enjoyed the interaction between all of these guys, their passion, warmth, and desires. I only wish that more had been done with the city and people they were saving, more detail. Author D.J. Manly does a wonderful job tying together all of these alpha men and treating readers to a satisfying ending.

Author never disappoints, I continue buying the books because I like the way the books are written and they are not boring.
I read this story in the paperback collection SAGA OF THE WOLF around Thanksgiving 2009. I didn't think I'd like this story because of the protagonists, but it turned out to be a strong tale of love and obsession.
