A man visits the town of his college years, retelling the numerous stories of his friends and their life at a rented house. He is visiting under less-than-ideal circumstances, only to attend a funeral and to find that their old home no longer exists.

Attuc edition by Jeffrey Koval Jr Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks

I read this sweet bundle of creepy storytelling fairly late in the evening to get in the right mood, but Amney and Attuc really set the mood for themselves. I'm a sucker for great narration and an ending that leaves you with slight paranoia and phobias for inanimate objects.
The tongue-in-cheek yellow kiddie chair reference was bittersweet.

Definitely recommend getting it if you're looking for some chills down your spine or something to fill up those uneventful late nights.

Attuc edition by Jeffrey Koval Jr Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews

In "Attuc", Jeffrey Koval offers a quick read, a jolting scare, and lots of room for thought following the formal end of the story. Koval speaks in the voice of a man who has lived life, but also "remembers" the group awareness of friends building a home together. The combination of everyday occurrences with the macabre makes "Attuc" all the more creepy. You will enjoy.
"Attuc" was an incredible read! Full of great writing and beautiful description, while also carrying a creepy atmosphere, Jeffrey Koval has written an amazing story that I highly recommend. I think one of the most interesting aspects of the story, was that it also is very relatable, with it's story of moving in with your friends, and starting your lives. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author!
This is the first story of Jeff's that I have read and I was very pleased. The way he describes the setting and the people give you just enough information to get an image in your head, without it dragging on and becoming overwhelming. I enjoyed how simple things in the beginning tied in and became significant at the end. All in all it was a very nicely written creepy short story. Be careful of old houses!
Written with fluidity and excellent penmanship. The plot was intriguing and there was just enough of a "creepy" feeling to make you think twice about buying that gnome statue for your yard.
It's fairly cliche, but it's pretty solid horror. If you're a fan of Koval's EverymanHYBRID series, have fun spotting some familiar personalities.
N-o-t-h-i-n-g happened. OK - So 5 guys lived together in a big house 30 years ago. Over the years all but the narrator and one other friend had died. Recently #4 died, and the narrator (now the only survivor of the group) went to the funeral.

While visiting the family's home, the narrator was given a letter (addressed to him) which had been found in a book. It was a warning. But apparently I just didn't find this anywhere near as spooky (creepy, whatever) as the other reviewers.

Yeah, I got the clue way back when the guys lived in the house. But there is NOTHING happening to warrant all the 4 and 5 star reviews. All we have is a lot of narration. Not impressive. There wasn't even any big build up that gives you goose bumps.

Let me say that I avoid scary books and movies because they are too intense for me. I can't handle the tension, and I do not like to be terrified. From the description and reviews I made certain I did not read this at bedtime. Trust me - that would NOT have been a problem!

Sure, there was a HINT of something evil, but it was never developed. I COULD have been scared, but the story just fell flat. While there were a few promising moments, they were never fulfilled.
This is the story of a memory, a memory from long ago. From the point of view of The Author, we see small snippets of the life he used to live, and how now, everything has changed.

This is slow paced horror story, that won't leave your mind for a long time. Well worth a read, it won't take you long.
